Planning & Development

Land use control and planning within Snowy River Shire Council is administered by both Snowy River Shire Council and the State Government.

How is the Shire Planned by Council?

Land use within Snowy River Shire Council is principally guided by the Snowy River Shire Council Local Environmental Plan 1997 (LEP)and Snowy River Rural Local Environmental Plan 2007. These LEP's cover all areas of the Shire, and sets out the type of future development allowed in each location.

The DCPs contain more detailed controls for development and provide explanations of the relevant controls in the Snowy River Shire Local Environmental Plans.

Snowy River Shire Council is currently working toward a Principle Plan within the next four years.
