Strategic Planning is long term planning that helps to guide growth and new development to enhance the quality of life of the Shire's residents and to support a sustainable community, economy and environment.
Policy development helps to provide leadership and clarity on particular issues to facilitate transparent and consistent decision making. Council is contiuously developing new policy to address a range of issues affecting the Shire.
The Strategic Planning Unit is responsible for the development of landuse plans and policy that guide the development of the Shire. There are a number of projects currently being undertaken including growth structure plans, sustainability strategies, environmental studies as well as numerous policies and strategies that aim to further the sustainability of our Shire.
An important part of Strategic Planning is understanding what the community thinks about particular issues to ensure our plans and strategies reflect community views. By working with residents, community groups and other governmnet agencies a variety of views can be considered and factored into our plans and policies. Community consultation is undertaken continously as new plans and policies are developed.
