Accessing the Shire

Transportation

Road access is extremely good with the Snowy Mountains Highway crossing the Shire from northwest to south-east and the Alpine Way traversing the Shire from the north-east to the south-west. This means the Snowy River Shire is about 80 minutes from Canberra and the south coast beaches accessed in Bega Valley Shire.

During the winter season, the Shire is serviced by a network of bus and coach lines with regular services between Sydney, Canberra, Berridale, Jindabyne and the Snowfields. These services provide safe and efficient transport to the ski resorts.

Canberra airport is just over an hour by road and has services to all state capitals and most regional centres.
